We see OLAM growing and impacting marginalized communities and individuals especially women and children and to becoming a global institution working in partnership towards the betterment of humanity.

Our mission seeks to empower underprivileged communities, women, youth and children towards poverty reduction and community development.

Our Lady of Mercy Community Services (OLAMCS) was established in 2004 and registered with the Registrar General Department and the Department of Social Welfare in 2005 with registration number DSD 2982 under the laws of Ghana. Under the supervision of the Director, OLAMCS currently has 10 full staff and over 20 volunteers for our organization activities. We have undertaken several projects in our target Districts and communities. The organization is managed by a Board of Trustees and a Management Committee who are in charge of the day to day running of the activities. The background of our volunteers include: Education Directors, Nurses, Entrepreneurs, Market Women, Queen Mothers, Gender Activists, Social Workers, other health professionals and District Assembly Members. We take into consideration gender equality and social inclusion seriously which has made us to institutionalized all gender issues within our organization.OLAMCS has been operating with the following major thematic areas;

  • 1. empowering underprivileged communities, women and children towards poverty reduction and community development,
  • 2. women and child rights advocacy, education and radio programmes.

We do this through vocational and skills training (batik, tie & dye, beads making, soap making, dressmaking, fashion and designing, weaving, carpentry, mason, plumbing and solar and electronics repairs), Basic Computing and internet application training, entrepreneurship development, financial literacy training, natural resource management and environmental concerns, child rights advocacy and education through radio programmes, workshops and seminars, youth formations, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights education.
